Each October bank holiday, our Festival delivers an extensive and eclectic programme of the best of Irish and international comedy. Featuring established and emerging talent in venues of varying intimacy throughout Galway city and county; we host a dizzying array of mixed bills, solo touring shows, work in progress, improv, sketch, quizzes, films, dinner theatre & new act showcases.
First held at Easter in 2006 with twelve shows in four venues over five days, Galway Comedy Festival has since grown into Ireland’s largest comedy festival, with an annual attendance of 20,000 comedy fans across 20 venues of varying intimacy throughout Galway city & county.
Through the driving force of Galway Comedy Festival, Róisín Dubh Comedy, all through the year we book comedians in venues throughout Galway city, county & nationwide via solo shows, comedy clubs & tours - all with the view of fostering relationships with major artists & agents to aid in the curation of Galway Comedy Festival.

Stand & Deliver Live From Róisín Dubh (2010)
Presented by ‘the godfather of Irish comedy’ Barry Murphy, in his inimitable style, Stand & Deliver features comedy global stars Stewart Lee, Sarah Millican, Milton Jones & Reginald D Hunter as they come to play the comedy Mecca that is Róisín Dubh, in the heart of Galway.
These comedy legends are joined by Irish acts who have made it big on the international comedy circuit including Jason Byrne, Andrew Maxwell & Jarlath Regan. And each week they are joined by one of the ‘young guns’ of Irish Comedy who have the chance to shine on the same stage as some of the best names in the business.

Live From Galway Comedy Festival (2019)
Hosted by Karl Spain & Anna Clifford, Laughter in the Eyre is an hour-long stand-up comedy television special produced for RTÉ2.
Recorded live in Eyre Square during the Vodafone Comedy Carnival in Galway, it captured performances from various Irish and international comedians including Andrew Maxwell, Reginald D. Hunter, Mike Rice, Seann Walsh, Enya Martin, Colin Geddis and Jo Caulfield.
